It was announced that ''The Bachelor'' was coming to Canada on City's ''Breakfast Television'' by the American host, Chris Harrison.〔 The show is produced by Good Human Productions based in Vancouver. Filming began in Spring 2012.〔
On May 1, 2012, former Canadian Football League slotback Brad Smith was announced as the Bachelor for the opening season of the series on that morning's episode of ''Breakfast Television''.
